After many years dealing with my own mental illness, I had a life changing experience when I discovered Reiki. Reiki taught me how to understand my pain, accept it and heal so that I could move forward and help others. Realizing this change I made for myself and the immense impact Reiki had on my wellbeing, I knew it was my new purpose in life to show others how they can break down barriers and begin healing. I now help clients become their better, higher selves by guiding their own journey of self-improvement and growth.
I have been training, practicing and learning Reiki for nearly 10 years and registered with the Canadian Reiki Association as a Practitioner and Master Teacher.
Forest bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku, is a practice that involves immersing oneself in nature and surrounding oneself with the forest environment. The benefits of forest bathing have been extensively researched and documented. Here are five benefits of forest bathing:
Reduced stress levels: Forest bathing has been found to significantly reduce cortisol levels, which is the hormone associated with stress. The calming effect of the forest environment helps to lower stress levels and promote relaxation.
Improved immune function: Forest bathing has also been shown to boost the immune system. The essential oils and plant chemicals that are released by trees and other plants in the forest are known to have antimicrobial and antifungal properties, which can help to strengthen the immune system.
Enhanced mood: Being in a forest environment has been found to improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. This is due to the calming effect of nature and the release of beneficial chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine.
Increased creativity and productivity: Forest bathing has been found to increase creativity and productivity. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can help to improve cognitive function, boost creativity and increase focus.
Better sleep: Forest bathing can also help to improve sleep quality. Exposure to natural light during the day can help to regulate the body's circadian rhythm, which in turn can improve sleep quality at night. Additionally, the calming effect of the forest environment can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation, which can also aid in better sleep.
