I have always felt a calling to the healing arts. I opened Meadowbrook Massage Therapy in 2010 specializing in massage to support families. I am so grateful to honestly love my work even after 14 years in business. In early 2023 my hands became suddenly so inflamed, painful and weak that I couldn’t even lift a glass with out using both hands. I couldn’t do my work and felt scared and lost without it. I had been given a gift with my hands, that I couldn’t explain. I knew that it wasn’t just massage skills, but something more. All of a sudden, without my hands, I could no longer do this. I didn’t know if this was going to be a long term issue, if it would pass, or if it was a sign of more things to come. It became abundantly clear how much I loved the work I did. Reflecting on what it was about my work that brought me so much joy I identified that I love watching people leave my office peaceful, grounded and centered. I love providing a space where people can find peace and safety in healing. I knew I had a special gift and perhaps that went beyond massage. I had always thought about adding energy work to my practice and my husband encouraged me to look into Reiki. He didn’t know anything about it himself, but had heard of it and thought I should learn more. I signed up for Usui/Tibetan Reiki I/II and almost immediately my hands started to heal. It was as if the universe was giving me direction. When I received the first Reiki I attunement in my hands, I had a profound experience and my hands were completely healed. After this class I quickly started gaining experience offering it to my massage clients, family and myself. I then took my Reiki Master class. This class also brought an intense amount of healing, releasing a lot of things and relationships that were deeply affecting my mental health. It helped me recognize that I had been living my life simply to take care of others, even when sometimes all I received in return was pain and heartache. A year later, I felt a strong call to take the Usui/Holy Fire®️ III Reiki I/II and Master level classes through the International Center for Reiki Training. These classes again provided healing and guidance that went beyond what I could have imagined.
I specialize in working with people seeking to find their authentic voice and inner authority in this world. I have two boys that have brought such richness to my life and have taught me so much. Parenting has given me firsthand experience in dealing with health traumas, too many sleepless nights, breaking generational cycles, juggling the hundreds of decisions a parent has to make each day, wanting nothing more than to give your children a better life than you had and also feeling like you are failing at just that. It has taught me that taking care of myself if the priority for a healthy family.
With autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions, I have firsthand experience with the “silent illnesses”; with traveling through life in chronic pain although outwardly nobody sees anything wrong. Reiki and therapy have helped immensely with healing these conditions to a large degree, but I will never forget what it is like to live with them.
